1984
Supra P-type
I picked up this '84 Supra from a Phoenix area junkyard that I had gone to to get parts for another MK2 Supra I had bought (red '83). The red '83 was a complete piece of junk that needed a LOT of work to get back to even regular daily use. This '84 was a MUCH better starting point for a project car.
These are the most recent pics...
I picked up some gray cloth seats from a car recently acquired by the local Toyota junkyard. Also finished painting the various interior components black, installed a spare dashpad in better shape than the old one, installed some refinished valve covers and a set of headers I bought from Zaron. I refinished the valve covers myself with some Krylon wrinkle finish paint and my trusty heat gun!
Here are the pictures of when I first found the car and brought it home...
I needed to drop a new engine in this car because the original 2.8L 5M-GE motor had a blown headgasket and the crank pulley was missing a nice chunk of metal! I had the junkyard pull out the bad motor because I was getting a 3.0 liter 6M-GE motor from a buddy's car that had been wrecked (Todd's wrecked '84). Next thing was to get the car ready for the new engine.
Engine bay after cleaning it up!
Dropping the "new" engine in...
I replaced just about everything before I dropped the motor in... all new seals, water pump, fan clutch,
radiator, thermostat, timing belt, clutch, reconditioned flywheel, rear tranny seal, and power steering pump.
Here's a black leather interior I picked up from a local junkyard!
I got tired of looking at the Krylon-black spoiler and hatch, so I got some more rattle cans and
painted them white!! Also got some cheap rubber trim to go around the sunroof opening.
Here's how you can make your fog lights like driving lights...
